The original windup telescopic pole introduced by Olympia Triumph back in 1978 started our tactical equipment range. Over the years we have developed and improved the performance and functionality of the telescopic pole while keeping the weight to a minimum. The purpose of the product is to deploy a hook and ladder to allow maritime interdiction operations (VBSS) and tactical urban entry with a height up to 15 metres.
The pole is manually extended by using the handwheel. Quick deployment is achieved by engineering all pole sections to extend simultaneously, allowing 10 metres extension in 10 seconds and 15 metres extension in approximately 15 seconds. The pole is easily maintained and with practice can be used precisely, to deliver the hook to a target in the worst of conditions.
The pole is available in 4 sections Aluminium or as a preferred set up, 3 sections Aluminium and the top section carbon fibre. We recommend the top section in carbon as it is a stronger more durable setup. Crucially when the target vessel is moving independently from the RHIB, the pole could potentially miss the target, trapping the top section under the handrail / target structure. A carbon fibre top section is substantially more resistant to this type of scenario and will remain functional. With the top section in aluminium, the forces involved could result in the top section bending underload, preventing the pole from retracting completely and delaying a critical part of the mission.
The pole retracts in combination with gravity and winding the pole down. Speed and control can be greatly improved with practice allowing for easy deployment and retraction.
